A roof frame is a series of roof rafters which are the hypotenuse of right angle triangles based on Pythagoras theorem. These are called common rafters. Corners are formed by hip & valley rafters. Rafters are aligned together to create a flat plane frame on which the roof sheathing is attached. A waterproof membrane covers the sheathing to shed weather. The roof is made of several components that are linked together mathematically. Once the basic calculations are made the pieces can be laid out and then fabricated.
